Time for war

I have my target and the war is on. Just a couple more days of building up. One of my friends from the UC-1 days is about to get a visit from the Gauls.

Fswim keeps sending individual attacks. First one had 5 catapults, second one was dodged and only have 20 cavalry. Now two more attacks are coming in.
Guess he’s looking for a response without much risk. My two smallest villages are undefended so it’s good to send a small scale raid that is designed to ??? Have no idea. Probably to get me either to launch a rash attack on well defended (or easy to reinforce) villages or just to mess around.

What it has done is to keep interest in this game.

Hopefully my man French will keep this up long enough so I can build up my fields and get more troops.

Won’t even go into character for this update.
Only the 2nd time playing so I didn’t know about the Christmas Truce. I was going to launch an attack on Mad Cow (he now plays under the Squaremaster account for Roft~U), maybe Chief a village and laugh.
With the Christmas Truce I was going to move the attack to New Year’s Eve but then thought better of it. I thought that since Mad Cow and Company have left me alone all this time then I would be a prick to try and embarrass him.
A month or so earlier I made a deal with Shock Ryder from BS to pay him wheat if he would send troops for protection.

Now I’m bored with the game again. I have an acquaintance in BS whom I offered to attack any of his opponents but I guess I’m too small time to make much of a difference with him. Received a negative.

New Year’s Eve I even ask Mad Cow himself. Dude said his alliance doesn’t have problems with anyone. Really bored now.

Fortunately FrenchSwimmer has come along and launched an attack against my smallest village. Don’t know if my old UC-1 friends are trying to test me or provoke me into an attack of revenge with all of Frenchswimmer’s villages ready to be reinforced. I’m thinking MC is wondering if my offer was legitimate (he’s thinking not) and to see if I will reveal my hand.

Well my hand was to launch an attack and then see how long I could last. Now FrenchSwimmer is making things interesting again.

Time to build up the fields in Arverni to an insane Level 17 so I can get more troops. That’s another couple more weeks of building up. Don’t think it will last that long until Mad Cow’s curiosity gets the better of him or one of his bottom ho’s launches an attack that will need to be replied to.

During the Winter Truce Vosegus decided to go to the fabled Lake Tahoe and find peace on the mountain sides. Druid masters showed the king how to ride carved boards of wood down the slopes. The heavy climb back up the mountain was made easy by primo druid herb.

Upon returning from his peaceful interlude the king was in a mellow mood and thought his plans of revenge were beneath him. He sent emissaries to his old nemesis Mad Cow offering to help him against his enemies. Unfortunately the king’s emissaries never returned…..

Winter Solstice Truce

Krendall had to break the news to the impatient king that the Christmas Truce would be observed. A large Gaul army had gathered but no matter how much they loved their king they would of probably broken out into mutiny if ordered to attack on the eve of Winter Solstice. Krendall went into great detail on how this was the most important time of the year for the Druids with many ceremonies and sacrifices.
Over a couple of long pulls of the hash pipe the young Vosegus and his old adviser worked out new plans to continue building the army but also rush the building of the two newest villages.

Bhekizizwe hit the road today. His training has given the Gauls some good endurance but Krendall fears not enough to outpace Romans seeking revenge.

As the young King watches allied Teuton spearmen march into Arverni he thinks about the battle to come and dwells upon his all consuming desire for revenge.
The original King Vosegus merged his tribe with the new Roman power but that turned out to be a fatal decision. The Roman leadership was corrupt and the pro-counsels especially so. Foreign tribes were allowed to sack UC-1 villages at will and it soon became apparent that the leadership was involved.
Unfortunately the Gauls were located right in the middle of the new Roman province. There was a chance to talk to the Teutons confederation across the Rhine River (BS) but the older Vosegus was pretty sure that UC-1 leadership had contacts there and news of his trying to change allegiance would reach the wrong ears.
Soon after a confederation of Visigoths attacked UC-1 (TBW) and the old King Vosegus started passing a Visigoth general information. Unfortunately the Visigoth general enjoyed his drink more than leading his troops or planning any strategy and soon enough Vosegus’s treachery was discovered before the Visigoth general would send help. A trap was laid by UC-1 and old Vosegus had no choice but to heed the pro-consul’s summons. Both Vosegus and his army were slaughtered in a devastating ambush in a lonely oasis.
Vosegus’s oldest son took the throne, left the Visigoth’s and threw the Kingdom open to the Romans. (set the UC-1 leader as a sitter and told him he could do what he wanted with the villages). Instead of using the Gaul villages the Romans lead the remaining Gaul army out into the same oasis and slaughtered them and the new king.
The Younger Vosegus has learned well. After the Romans tired of pillaging the Gaul villages he slowly crannied up. Surprisingly the Gauls were left alone. The Younger Vosegus initially just wanted to rebuild his small kingdom and be left in peace. Eventually his thirst for revenge got the better of him and now he is close to humiliating the pro-consul that took both his father’s and older brother’s lives.

It seems that not all of the Gauls are enthralled with Vosegus’ suicidal plan of revenge. Just now three groups of settlers departed “for the other side of the world”. They fear the retribution from the Roman empire after the Gauls sack (or attempt to sack) a town.

A Good Day

The Gauls are working like mad bastards. The last forest was cleared and all fields around the capital are now large enough to support a small army. The young men that were clearing the forest are now being fitted out in armor for the phalanxes or they are digging up Granddad’s old trusty sword in the hopes of driving it into a Roft~U legionary.
Besides the fields around Arverni one other village has had the benefit of a visit by Bhekizizwe and has trained their troops in LVL 14 Tournament Square endurance. B’s a busy dude and has also had time to train the warriors in Remi up to LVL 5.
Things are going well. All the resources are pouring into upgrading fields and endurance training but there’s still recruits coming in 24/7. Druid Riders, swordsmen, scouts, phalanxes, they keep rolling in.
The only bad thing is that Bhekizizwe is hinting that he might not be around to finish training until LVL 20 mumbling some crap about not wanting to be around for the payback.

Some action. 30 scouts visit Morini. 3 are left behind. One of those players with a big sword in his profile which also says he’s waiting to grow into the population requirements to join my friends at Roft-U.
Stay quiet for now. Just by his profile I know more about him than he does of me. Might be a freelance scouting attempt or someone asked him to. Extra scouts have been assigned to each village so next time more than 3 will be captured.

B’s still smoking. Work has slowed on the Tournament Squares and some more phalanxes recruited.
